Victoria Lake Canoe Club - where great canoeists meet
Victoria Lake Canoe Club is situated at Victoria Lake in Germiston.
Facilities
Apart from the main club, the Canoe Section has excellent change room facilities close to the water and boathouse. The boathouse has limited racks available for K2 and K1 storage; these racks are leased on a year by year basis for a nominal fee. The club has a number of 'club boats' available for new members to try before buying their own. For further information on any of these facilities please contact Dave White.
The lake itself is clean and has a canoe course that runs around it for approx. 3km. Time trials are 9km long.
Club Social Activities
The Canoe Section hosts a number of social events every year and are usually aimed to include the whole family. These socials vary from year to year but are usually well attended and great fun. Club nights are arranged for the first Tuesday of every month, after time-trial about 7PM, and includes lucky draws a light meal. Family and friends are welcome to attend club nights. In addition to club nights, the official club time trial occurs every Tuesday evening and members often meet afterwards in the Main bar for drinks or food. A novice time trial is also usually organized for first Tuesday of each month. Club socials are well communicated via the club news group.
